2024 GOLF FUNDRAISER:
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2024
welcome!
Thank you for visiting our website!
We're excited to host our second annual Aces For Autism golf fundraiser this year. We both have sons who love golf and are on the autism spectrum. We wanted to create a way to celebrate them, bring awareness to an often misunderstood disorder, and raise money to give back to our autistic community. With your support we hope to make a difference in our community and continue to make this an annual event!
Keep scrolling to learn more about us, the golf outing, how you can help, and autism.
Thank you!

Why?
Bringing awareness to autism is critical. It is often a grossly misunderstood disorder in which people have stereotypical notions. We want to show you how diverse autism is, shatter those stereotypes, and bring light to the amazing and wonderful individuals in the autistic community.
We have learned the hard way that access to resources and services can be expensive and difficult, especially if there are insurance issues. We are both fortunate to have gained access to amazing services for our sons.
All proceeds raised from this event will benefit autism society of greater akron!
The Autism Society of Greater Akron (ASGA) is an affiliate of the Autism Society of America (ASA), the oldest and largest national Autism organization. ASGA serves Summit, Stark, Medina, Portage and Wayne counties, OH and was founded in 1987 by parents of children with Autism who had nowhere to turn for support and guidance.
That all-volunteer parent network changed in 2011 when we hired our first full-time staff person in response to the rapidly growing incidence of Autism. As part of the organization’s plan to provide consistent programs and services to support the community’s needs, we also diversified our Board of Directors beyond parents to include an array of professional leaders throughout the community.
ASGA is not a direct service provider that receives reimbursement through Medicaid or Health Insurance. We depend on the support of the communities we serve, including individual donors, foundations, grants, and corporate sponsorships to provide free, or greatly reduced programs and services to our community. All money donated stays local to help our community.
ASGA’s Mission: We create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully.
ASGA’s Vision: Creating a world where everyone in the Autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it.

About us
Golf has always been an important part of our lives. What started as a casual family get-together at Atwood Lake, turned into an annual golf outing with family and friends. The outing, known within the family as "The Atwood Open", was spearheaded by our grandfather, John Konkowski, who loved gathering family & friends to catch up, play golf, and try to win the coveted "Green Jacket!". Our grandfather passed away in 2020 but we wanted to keep his golf legacy going by starting the outing again with an added benefit. Our inspiration for focusing on autism comes from our sons; both are autistic and have an immense love of golf!
